Taryn Leatherwood

Mental Health Counseling Intern

Taryn Leatherwood is a third-year Clinical Mental Health Counseling student at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and provides counseling under the supervision of Tiffany Austin, LCMHC.

Taryn earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Tennessee in 2012 and a Master of Science in Elementary Education in 2013. She spent fourteen years serving with Young Life and has six years of experience as an educator, walking alongside adolescents, young adults, and families through seasons of growth, challenge, and transition.

Taryn utilizes a client-centered, relational approach to counseling and draws from family systems perspectives to help clients gain insight, foster resilience, and experience meaningful change. She believes healing often begins when people feel genuinely seen, understood, and accepted, and she strives to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their stories with honesty and courage.

Taryn sees clients ages 12 and older and enjoys working with individuals navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, family dynamics, grief and loss, identity development, and questions of meaning and purpose. Her desire is to help clients cultivate greater self-awareness, strengthen their relationships, and move toward lasting growth and hope.
